Freshly Made by My Mini-me
- by OttawaMom
When I sit down to craft in my little corner of the house, I am almost always joined by my daughter, who is five. She loves to create things along side me, especially if I let her use my tools and ink pads!
She’s been watching me everytime I create a card for a card challenge and she recently asked me if we could do one together. So last night, we sat down and both attempted this new sketch from Freshly Made:

It really was rather cute to see her go through her own stack of paper, to decide what colour combo she wanted. And then to go through my scrap box, when she was looking for just the right accent. And after she was all done, she declared hers much better than mine! You be the judge.

Didn’t she do a fantastic job! Definitely kept to the sketch.

I am wishing for Spring, so I wanted to do a card that reflected that. And the Triple Treat Flower Stamp is one of my favourites, so I try to use it as much as possible.
Hope you like them both!

Stamp Sets: Triple Treat Flower and Teeny Tiny Wishes

Saying Thanks
- by OttawaMom
On my way to get my children from school yesterday, I was involved in a car accident – not my fault and only the car got hurt, I’m okay. And if it weren’t for the school’s administrator and Principal, I don’t know what I would have done. The administrator contacted both my children’s teachers to let them know I would be delayed, and then she and the Principal sat with them until I could come and pick them up. This is just one of the many reasons that I love the school my children go to. All of the staff are kind and caring to all the kids and understanding to us harried parents!
My parents always taught me the importance of saying thank you, something I am trying to instill in my own kids. So this morning I was thinking of ways I could repay their kindness and I thought what better way than a set of note cards. Here’s what I whipped up and gave to them this afternoon.
The cards were quick and easy and both women truly appreciated the simple gesture. It always feels good to say thank you, don’t you think? It’s so important and I don’t think it’s done often enough!
Details:
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Stamp Set: Fresh Vintage
Tools and Embellishments: Eyelet Border Punch, Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon
Mojo Monday
- by OttawaMom
Yesterday, I had one of those typical Mondays where if something could go wrong, it did. So at the end of the day, I was super happy to sit down and create a card, using this weeks Mojo Monday sketch.
Normally, when I sit down in my little craft corner, to create, my 5 year old daughter joins me with her own card making supplies – I am creating a little mini-me! However, her birthday is coming up and I wanted to use this week’s sketch to create her birthday card, so I did this while she was in bed.
Her favourite colour is purple, so I knew I had to include that colour in her card. She also has had her eye on the new Sweet Shop Jelly Bean Brads, so I wanted to incorporate those as well. And ice cream and birthdays always go together, so the Sweet Shop DSP was perfect. I think it turned out pretty cute!
Here’s what I used (all Stampin’ UP Products):
Card Stock: Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Pool Party Textured, Sweet Shop DSP, Calypso Coral Patterns DSP
Ink: Soft Suede
Stamp Set: Happiest Birthday Wishes
Tools and Embellishments: 3/16 Corner Punch, 1 3/4 Scallop Circle Punch, Sweet Shop Jelly Bean Brad, Calypso Coral Ruffled Ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals
The one thing that doing all these challenges has taught me, is that I really need to expand my stamp and punch collections, so I’m not always using the same ones!! Oh well, at least my photography skills seem to be improving each week.
Until next time, thanks for looking!
