Make a Cake

 - by OttawaMom

My niece has a birthday coming up in June, so I took the opportunity to use this week’s sketch at Pals Paper Arts, to make her card.

The challenge:

PPA159w-frame

My card:

I couldn’t resist making this a very girly card with lots of pink and bling, after all, who doesn’t like a little sparkle in their life.  I loved this sketch and thought it was a perfect one to showcase the cake from the Make a Cake stamp set. Can’t wait to give this to my niece!

Thanks for taking a look!

Here’s what I used:

Card Stock: Print Poetry DSP, Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals

Ink: Summer Starfruit, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple

Stamp Sets: Itty Bitty Banners, Make a Cake

Tools & Embellishments: Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin Ribbon, Basic Rhinestone Jewels, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch

Another Spring Card

 - by OttawaMom

Today’s card combines the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches with the colour challenge at Pals Paper Arts.

The colour challenge was a lot more ‘challenging’ than I thought it would be, so pairing it with a sketch challenge really helped this time around.

The challenges:

PoolStarfruitLimeade

My card:

It really did take a while for me to come up with the right combo of the challenge colours before I liked it.  As for the sketch challenge, I was inspired by one of the cards created by the design team, the very talented Amy O’Neil. Trying to keep the sketch clean and simple was a lot harder than I thought it would be.  I still had the Best of Flowers stamp set on my desk after creating this card, so I decided to use it again.  I wanted a more pop of colour than I would have gotten with just ink, so I got out my heat tool and embossed the flowers in white right onto the different card stocks. Definitely not my usual style, but I am happy with the way it turned out.

Thanks for taking a look!

Here’s what I used:

Card Stock: Whisper White, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Summer Starfruit, Attic Boutique DSP

Ink: Versamark, White Embossing Powder

Stamp Sets: Best of Flowers, Pennant Parade

Tools & Embellishments: Heat Tool, 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch, In-Colour Printed Designer Brad, In-Colour Dahlia, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Calypso Birthday

I seem to have taken a bit of a creative break, but I am back with a new card to share with all of you.

I combined two challenges for my card today, Sunday Stamps and Pals Paper Arts.  I really liked the colour combo from Sunday Stamps but knew I would need a sketch challenge to help get the creative juices flowing and the one from the Pals fit the bill.

The challenges:

My card:

I decided to turn my card into a birthday one as I seem to be running low on them.   I also wanted to try out the (new to me) Delicate Designs Embossing Folder and I love how it turned out.

Hopefully I will be back later this week with another new card.

Til then, thanks for taking a look!
