A Little Ombre Fun!

It’s Wednesday and we are working with some awesome “Playful” colours this week – Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Pacific Point and Tempting Turquoise.

photo-8I decided to try something I haven’t before and create an Ombre effect with some of the colours.

I started with a piece of Whisper White and then sponged three of the colours, to create the Ombre effect. I mounted that piece onto another piece of Whisper White and then onto the Pacific Point base.

And since one of the challenges at the Friday Mashup is to create an Ombre background, I also decided to mash it up and use their sketch for my card as well.

Our challenge lasts for a week and will end on April 28th, at 12:00pm (EST). And as with any challenge, there are a few rules – you can check them out here.

You must stop by Colour Me….!  and check out what the Design Team has come up with! I promise you won’t be disappointed! RosemaryHayleySam, TaraKatie, and Anita, our Featured Designer for this month.

Hope to see you in the gallery – I’m so excited to see what you all create this week!!!

Lost But Never Forgotten

I don’t normally do this here, but this week’s theme for the challenge at The Friday Mashup!, has touched on something that is very personal to me. In fact, I had originally decided not to create anything for this week’s challenge, because the wounds are still fresh.

October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month and it also marks what would have been my third child’s 4th birthday. I’ve only written about this once before, and as I write this now, the tears are flowing again, but I suffered a miscarriage 4 years ago. And while life continues, and I am blessed with two beautiful, healthy children, it’s the type of loss that you never really get over.

The Mashup Challenge is to create a “Thinking of you or condolence card.” or create a card/cards and “Donate it to a Charity or Organization of your choice” or  Mash it Up and create a “Thinking of you/Condolence Card and donate it to H.A.N.D.S via Heidi.”

So with that in mind, I have decided to take Heidi’s challenge and donate my card to a local charity, as it is my hope it will bring some comfort to another family going through the same loss, as we were comforted way back when.

Perfect Plum Flowers

Well, we survived the first day back to school and everyone is happy with their new classes and teachers and I am one relieved mama!

And now with the kids back in school, I am going to turn my attention to planning my upcoming classes and I’m going to try to share my creations here, on a more regular basis (that’s the plan anyway!).

Today I am combining three challenges with my card, Ribbons and Bows at SUO Challenges, the colour challenge from Dynamic Duos and the sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches.

My card:

P1140513I am in love with this sketch created by the very talented Cindy Hall, a Design Team member at Freshly Made Sketches. In fact, I love it so much that I created a few cards with it, that I will share with you over the coming weeks.

For the colour challenge, I chose to pair the Perfect Plum with Wild Wasabi, a colour I have rarely used. I actually stamped the flower image twice, cutting the first one out with the Oval Framelits. Then I cut out only the flowers, heat embossed them with a little Iridescent Ice Emboss Powder (hard to tell in the photo, I know) and used a Stampin’ Dimensional to adhere it to the card.

The finishing touch was the very pretty Organza Ribbon.

Thanks for taking a look!
