Baja Betsy

Even though it was a beautiful weekend and we spent sometime outside, I was also able to get some crafting done.  Not only did I create today’s card, but I also created some art for a silent auction being held at the kids’ school this week.  I plan to share that with you in a future post, as I am quite proud of what I created!

I was highly motivated to attempt the challenge at Dynamic Duos this week, as my friend Hayley Kew has been named to the Design Team as one of the new Dynamic Dynamos! She always inspires me with her designs and I am very excited to see what she and the rest of the Dynamic Dynamos come up with for us each week.

I also combined the colour challenge, with the sketch challenge from Seize the Birthday.

The challenges:

My card:

I pulled out a stamp set I haven’t played with for a while, Betsy’s Blossoms.  Spring is definitely having an influence over my cards lately and these are definitely spring colours.  Unlike some of the cards I created last week, I kept today’s very clean and simple. Again I used some retiring products, the Baja Breeze ink and seam binding and the Floral District DSP.  I am sad to see both of these going but am very excited to use some of the sneak peek products, that will hopefully be arriving on my door step in a couple of days.

Thanks for taking a look!

Here’s what I used:

Card Stock: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Floral District DSP

Ink: Baja Breeze

Stamp Sets: Betsy’s Blossoms, Create a Cupcake

Tools & Embellishments: 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, Baja Breeze Seam Binding, Basic Rhinestone Jewel, Stampin’ Dimensionals

One-Layer Card

It’s a beautiful sunny day here in Ottawa and I am going to take the opportunity to go for a walk before picking the kids up from school.  But before I go, I wanted to share the card I created for this week’s challenge at The Paper Players.

The challenge:

My card:

I don’t think I have ever attempted a one-layer card but it was something I have always wanted to try.  To add a bit of dimension to the card, I used a scoring tool to create a border.  And because I don’t think a card is ever complete without a little bling, I added a spritz of the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch.

This card was so much fun to do, I may just have to do a one-layer card again.

Thanks for taking a look!

Here’s what I used:

Card Stock: Whisper White

Stamp Sets: Beautiful Birthday, Bordering on Romance

Ink: Black Stazon Ink, Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink

Tools & Embellishments: Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz, Scoring Tool, Blender Pen

Calypso Birthday

I seem to have taken a bit of a creative break, but I am back with a new card to share with all of you.

I combined two challenges for my card today, Sunday Stamps and Pals Paper Arts.  I really liked the colour combo from Sunday Stamps but knew I would need a sketch challenge to help get the creative juices flowing and the one from the Pals fit the bill.

The challenges:

My card:

I decided to turn my card into a birthday one as I seem to be running low on them.   I also wanted to try out the (new to me) Delicate Designs Embossing Folder and I love how it turned out.

Hopefully I will be back later this week with another new card.

Til then, thanks for taking a look!
