Make Something Monday

Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians! Hope you are all getting out and celebrating one way or another. We are heading to a family BBQ with fireworks this evening, but I first wanted to share today’s card with you.

Not only is it a holiday today, but my kids consider this the first real day of their summer holidays. And like I did last year, here at Camp Mommy, we have come up with a theme for each day of the week and today’s happened to be Make Something Monday. Great excuse to craft right?!

The challenges:

My card:

It’s been a while since I combined three challenges into one card, but today it just turned out that way.

I chose Coastal Cabana, as my second colour, to go with the Basic Gray the Dynamic Duos challenge gave us to work with this week. It’s one of the new In-Colours and I absolutely love it. Actually I love them all!!  And the layout of my card comes from the sketch challenge at Seize the Birthday.

I was originally going to leave it at the two challenges, until I saw this week’s Tic Tac Toe theme at The Paper Players. Turns out I also combined Embossing, Bling and Birthday, which is one of the diagonals.

Thanks for taking a look!

Here’s what I used:

Card Stock: Basic Gray, Coastal Cabana, Very Vanilla, Afternoon Picnic DSP

Ink: Basic Gray, Coastal Cabana

Stamp Sets: Secret Garden, Morning Meadow, Vintage Verses(R)

Tools & Embellishments: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Secret Garden Framelits, Coastal Cabana Ruffled Stretch Trim, Pearl Basic Jewels, Itty Bitty Punch

Cajun Mosaic

What a whirlwind of activity the last week has been!  But today is finally the last day of school for the kids, so hopefully I can get back to posting new cards on a semi-regular basis.

I am just squeaking this card in for the Dynamic Duos challenge this week and I have paired it with the sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches.

The challenges:

My card:

The colour combo was definitely a “challenge” for me (not two colours I would have put together myself), so I thought, why not pair it up with what I found to be an equally “challenging” sketch.

I am in love with Mosaic Madness stamp set and coordinating punch and will definitely be using it a lot! My card is okay but I definitely didn’t hit it out of the park this time – think I kept it a little too simple.  Oh well, here’s hoping the kids do better at the ballpark this afternoon!

Here’s what I used:

Card Stock: Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze, Very Vanilla

Ink: Cajun Craze

Stamp Sets: Simply Sketched, Mosaic Madness

Tools & Embellishments: Big Shot, Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder, Mosaic Punch, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Large Rhinestone Basic Jewel

Chalk Talk

Today’s card is based on this week’s colour combo at Dynamic Duos.

The challenge:

My card: P1140213

I have had the new Chalk Talk stamp set for a while, but haven’t gotten around to using this large image from the set, until now.  I actually embossed the image with Black Emboss Powder and cut it out by hand, since I haven’t acquired the matching framelits yet. I also embossed the ‘SOMETHING’ banner using White Emboss Powder onto Pear Pizzazz and propped it up using dimensionals.

I kept the embellishments to a minimum, since the background is so busy. And although, the background is all leaves, I felt the card was a little plain, so I added a small flower and leaves to the bottom of the sentiment.

Chalk Talk is definitely a stamp set that I see getting a lot of use out of – going to have to think about investing in those matching framelits!
