Just Can’t Say Goodbye

The new Stampin’ Up! catalogue went live on Friday and I can’t wait to get my hands on some new toys to play with!! But I also can’t seem to say goodbye to some of my favourite stamp sets and DSP!

Today’s card is based on a sketch from the Paper Craft Crew, a new blog I discovered not too long ago, and I couldn’t resist breaking out one of my favourite stamp sets for this one.

The challenge:

Sketch

My card:

Sometimes when you look at a sketch, you immediately know exactly what you want to do with it and that’s exactly what happened with this one.

I used pieces of the Tea for Two DSP for the background and strip across the bottom.  For the stamped image, I coloured the stamp using my Stampin’ Write Markers and then cut the images out using the Postage Stamp Punch. I am thrilled with the way it came out and will definitely be using this sketch again!

Thanks for taking a look!

Here’s what I used:

Card Stock/DSP: Early Espresso, So Saffron, Tea for Two DSP (retired)

Ink: Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Lucky Limeade (retired), Early Espresso

Stamp Set: Elements of Style (retired)

Tools & Embellishments: Postage Stamp Punch, Early Espresso Taffeta Ribbon

Mother’s Day Themed Collage

My kids school is having an Art Show this week, in order to give all the parents a chance to come and view all the art the kids do at school.  In conjunction with the show, the Parents Council (of which I am Treasurer) is holding a silent auction to raise money to support the Arts in the school.

I was asked to contribute something to the auction and when I saw this week’s theme at The Paper Players, I knew it would be perfect for my project, especially since the auction is just before Mother’s Day. I have seen many beautiful collages around the internet and decided it was time to try one myself.

The challenge:

My project:

I started by picking out the background paper and then everything went from there.  I definitely wanted to show case a lot of flowers (whats Mother’s Day without flowers!) and you really can’t tell from the picture, but some of the flowers were stamped twice and cut out with my paper snips and then raised up using the dimensionals. The bird from the Elements of Style stamp set is also cut out and propped up with dimensionals. I embellished with some Basic Pearl Jewels and Baker’s Twine. I am absolutely thrilled with the way it turned out and can’t wait to see what it will fetch at the auction!

Thanks for taking a look!

Elements of Style for Sunday Stamps

I am on a roll today!  My third post of the day is all about a card I created for this week’s challenge at Sunday Stamps.

The challenge:

My card:

I seem to be continuing my own theme of the week, and I used another stamp set that will be retiring at the end of May.  Elements of Style was one of the first stamp sets I got when I joined Stampin’ Up! and it is definitely the one I am going to miss the most.
