Sketch Time at Sunday Stamps!

Happy Sunday stampers! I do hope that everyone is having a great weekend. Ours has been chalk full of all sorts of fun activities, including the kids’ first sail boat ride!

Before we get to our new challenge at Sunday Stamps, I want to give a shout out to Joan, who is stepping down from the Design Team. I will miss working with her but wish her all the best in her future endeavours.

Now onto the challenge – it’s time for a fun new sketch!

Our challenge:

My card:P1150835I will admit, that it took me a while to come up with a plan for my card. My original idea looked awful (what looked good in my head, didn’t look at all right in real life!). And then I realized the one Die that would have been perfect for the large circle in the background, I sold to make room for new Stampin’ Up! Products!  So back to the drawing board I went.

In the end I decided to trim one of the Tea Lace Doilies for the background, found some flowers, leftover from previous projects, in my stash, and put them together with some DSP and pretty ribbon, to come up with what you see here.  This is one of those times where it paid off to keep leftover bits and pieces!

Please do check out what my fellow DT members have created. I know you are going to be inspired by what they have come up with! Holly (creator)MarieKathya and Angel.

And just to keep things fair, please remember that we do have a few rules. You can check them out here.

The deadline to submit your creation is Friday, August 22nd, at 6pm (EST), so there’s plenty of time to play along!

Hope to see you in the gallery!

Here’s what I used:

Ink: Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding

Stamp Set: Secret Garden (R), Morning Meadow (R), Endless Birthday Wishes

Flowers for Seize the Birthday!

It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for a new two-week challenge at Seize the Birthday. Our topping this time around is “Flowers”, which is appropriate right now,  since we are finally starting to see some Spring flowers sprouting in our gardens here in Ontario!

Our challenge:

My card:

photo 2My inspiration for this card, actually comes from a banner that Connie at Constantly Stamping, shared a few weeks ago as part of the Artisan Design Team March Blog Hop. I thought it was absolutely gorgeous and wanted to see if some of the same techniques could be used to create a card.

I started with a layer of the Natural White card stock, stamped the flowers in Versamark and then heat embossed them with the Early Espresso.  Then it was time to colour, which I actually found a lot easier to do, not only on this card stock, but also because I had an embossed line I couldn’t colour out of!

To finish things off, I stamped a blossom from the Secret Garden set, twice. Once onto Blushing Bride and once onto Strawberry Slush, of which I only used the centre, and then the whole blossom was attached to the banner with the sentiment.

I loved creating my own DSP with a little stamping and colouring, so I can’t wait to get my hands on some of the new Blendabilities that will be available in the new 2014-2015 Stampin’ Up! Catalogue! They are really going to make colouring a lot of fun!

As always, our challenge is open for two weeks, until May 20th, so there’s lots of time to link up your creations – you can check out our challenge rules here.

My fellow Design Team members have also created some fabulous samples, to inspire you with, so be sure to stop by Seize the Birthday and check them out – NancyGlendaColleenSusieSharynJodeneJoAnnMarzenaJanet and Shirley. We can’t wait to see what you create!!!

And I’d like to link my card up with this week’s challenge at Stampin’ Royalty, since they are all about flowers too!

Sure hope you will join the party!

Floral Memories

It’s Monochromatic week at Colour Me…! and this time we are using Pumpkin Pie!

I got some new toys last week and used some of them on my card this week.  I created my own DSP for the background, using the En Francais stamp, sponged the edges with Crumb Cake and then distressed them a bit.

I also sponged a bit of the Crumb Cake on the sentiment banner, to make it stand out a bit better.  The large and small flowers are actually the same, just cut to different sizes and I layered the large orange one, to give it more dimension.

Our challenge lasts for a week and will end on April 7th, at 12:00pm (EST). And as with any challenge, there are a few rules – you can check them out here.

You must stop by Colour Me….!  and check out what the Design Team has come up with! I promise you won’t be disappointed! RosemaryHayleySam, TaraKatie, and please join me in welcoming Anita, as our lovely Guest Designer for the month of April.

Hope to see you in the gallery – I’m so excited to see what you all create this week!!!
